China’s state media allegedly fabricated a Swiss biologist and quoted him claiming that the United States pressured the WHO into investigating the Wuhan lab leak theory.
Fmr Nat. Intel. Director John Ratcliffe asserted that “every piece of evidence” he witnessed – including the “most sensitive intelligence” – demonstrates that COVID-19 originated in the Wuhan Lab.
““In the chimera we made in America in 2015 with the SARS virus, together with Professor Zheng-li Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, we had left signature mutations, so it was clear that it was the result of genetic engineering,” he continued. “But, otherwise there is no way to distinguish a natural virus from one made in the laboratory.”
“The only gain-of-function that occurred in that virus is that we changed its antigenicity,” Baric said.
Simply put, it is an absolute scandal. But it’s funny that Dr. Shi, the head of the laboratory who discovered a year before that bat coronaviruses could spread directly to humans, said in The New York Times, the reason we’re doing it in that laboratory is that they couldn’t spread from bats to humans. So what’s the truth? I mean, she’s lying one way or the other. And we certainly know that the type of coronavirus research that they had developed inside that lab, and it seems to have leaked out, clearly, has killed four-point-some-odd million people. That’s more than enough proof that what they were doing was ridiculously dangerous.

The removal of the sequencing data is described in a new paper posted online Tuesday by Jesse Bloom, a virologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. The paper, which hasn’t been peer reviewed, says the missing data include sequences from virus samples collected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in January and February of 2020 from patients hospitalized with or suspected of having COVID-19.

Some Republicans have criticized White House for ‘vague threats and cheap talk’ . The White House said the United States and allies will “work together” to “exercise the necessary pressure on China” amid the global investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, urging Beijing to be a “participant” and provide “transparent data and access” in the probe. The comments come after White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said China would face “isolation in the international community” if they do not cooperate with further probes into the origin of the coronavirus pandemic.
GOP Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) said China’s effort to hide the origins of COVID-19 violates a 2005 international treaty, which allows the U.S. to impose sanctions and seize Chinese assets to compensate victims of the pandemic.
