CNKI Cuts Access Rights For Overseas Users Due To Investigation By Communist China

According to Nikkei News reports, CNKI recently issued a notice to libraries around the world that from April 1st, 2023, their access to the CNKI website will be restricted, and the website is taking action to ensure that its “cross-border services comply with regulations.”

The network database is an important website for scholars to obtain the source of article information, which can obtain 95% of Chinese academic journals. Now the information is being monopolized by the CCP, which is not a good thing for academic dissemination. The main reason for this was not revealed, but this action was taken after the CCP revised the cybersecurity review measures in February last year and strengthened national data security. It is clear that its intention to control the dissemination of speech and ideas is obvious. The construction of the firewall of the internet that was originally only in Communist China is now also being implemented in Hong Kong.
