US Congress Holds Hearing on Threats of the Chinese Communist Party to the U.S. Homeland

Media report on March 10, 2023: The US House of Representatives held a hearing on Thursday to discuss the surveillance activities of the Communist China regime and its affiliated organizations in the United States, including the recent high-altitude surveillance balloons flying over the United States, as well as the operations of the CCP secret police bureau in New York City.

Representative August Pfluger, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee’s Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Subcommittee, said in his speech that the CCP’s surveillance balloon was a blatant display of domestic espionage activities in the United States, but it was ultimately one of the many ways in which Communist China was trying to exploit America’s weaknesses. At the hearing, Pfluger expressed deep concerns about Communist China’s surveillance activities and its national strategy of “military-civilian integration”. Meanwhile, according to reports, the FBI searched what was purported to be a CCP secret police station in New York City in January.

Representative Seth Magaziner said that the so-called police station was part of Communist China’s officials’ monitoring of overseas criticism of the CCP government and dissenting voices. Regarding the apparent escalation of competition between Communist China and the United States, some lawmakers expressed that the United States needs to invest in strengthening its workforce, education, and cyber security, as well as improving its relationship with other countries in the Western Hemisphere.

Many countries have already indicated that they prefer American culture and values to what the Communist China regime offers.
