Attorney-Generals From 45 States In The US Demand TikTok To Submit Information

According to media reports, TikTok, the social media app of Communist China’s technology company ByteDance, was requested to submit materials by the attorneys general from 45 states and the capital of Washington, D.C. on March 6th, Monday, to undergo a partial investigation into its impact on the mental health of young users.

In recent years, more and more Americans have become aware of the serious harm that TikTok has caused to teenagers. The investigation began in 2022, when eight states participated, including California, Massachusetts, and Tennessee. The investigation, which both parties aimed at, focused on whether the software violated consumer protection laws in each state. Attorneys general from across the United States submitted a motion to the court in support of forcing TikTok to disclose information.

TikTok is facing security concerns, and its use on government-issued devices has been banned in the United States, Canada, and the European Union. Despite TikTok’s statement last week that it is developing an application that allows parents to set time limits and content options, it is still criticized for not doing enough to protect young people from harm by inappropriate content.
