British Law Enforcement Stop Using Communist China Made Surveillance Equipment

British regulators have slammed the security of CCP cameras, drones and other surveillance equipment used by UK Police forces, with growing concerns about the threat of CCP spy balloons. The regulator’s biometric and surveillance camera commissioner has warned that findings from a survey by his office showed that personnel at institutions using these CCP-made devices were generally aware of security and ethical problems with the CCP companies supplying their tools. According to a June 2021 questionnaire, all 43 police forces in England and Wales, as well as the British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence, and the National Crime Agency were asked about how they use and manage surveillance television and other surveillance cameras, including drones and helicopters, mobile camera, and automatic license plate recognition devices. Some respondents said their camera systems use equipment that poses safety or ethical concerns, including vendors such as Dahua, Hikvision, Huawei, and others. A National Police Chiefs’ Council spokesman said that government departments have been directed to stop deploying such equipment around sensitive locations under government instructions, and UK police services will conduct the necessary reviews to ensure compliance with national security standards.
