Recently, the Pentagon officially confirmed that the CCP is utilizing a large number of spy balloons to carry out espionage operations against more than 40 countries. Previously, balloons from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s flew over four sensitive areas of the United States and were purportedly without being detected by the American Military. These areas include Colorado, California, Northern Virginia, and near a U.S. Navy base in Hawaii. These intrusions were only known through intelligence analysis after the incident of the spy balloon being shot down by the US military on the coast of North Carolina on February 4th. Additionally, the U.S. officials note that the CCP also possesses a great number of similar spy balloons, which have been put into use by the PLA for espionage activities in more than 40 countries on five continents.
