US Blacklists Six Chinese Entities Are-linked to Beijing for Assisting Spy Balloon

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on Friday that six Chinese entities were-linked to Beijing involved in the spy balloon programs will be blacklisted for export, according to media reports. The White House said it would consider broader measures to “expose and counter” Communist China’s growing surveillance campaign that threatens U.S. national security and its allies. The U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security said on Friday the five Chinese entities along with one research institute were being targeted for “their assistance to China’s military modernization efforts, specifically the PLA aerospace programs, including airships and balloons.” The six entities are Beijing Nanjiang Aerospace Technology Co., China Electronics Technology Group Corporation 48th Research Institute, Dongguan Lingkong Remote Sensing Technology Co., Eagles Men Aviation Science and Technology Group Co., Guangzhou Tian-Hai-Xiang Aviation Technology Co., and Shanxi Eagles Men Aviation Science and Technology Group Co. As of the announcement of the blacklist, there was no comment from Beijing. It is reported that after being included in the entity blacklist, it is difficult for them to obtain U.S. technology exports. President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump both have blacklisted companies with ties to the CCP that pose a threat to U.S. national security and to deter its ambitions for military expansion. “Today’s action demonstrates our concerted efforts to identify and disrupt Communist China’s use of surveillance balloons, which have violated the airspace of the United States and more than forty countries,” said Matthew Axelrod, assistant secretary of commerce for export enforcement.
