The US Treasury Secretary Heads To Africa To Restrain The CCP’s Further Infiltration

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen officially launch the annual U.S. senior officials visit to Africa on January 20th, to consolidate the US-Africa relationship and restrain the CCP’s further infiltration on the continent. Yellen’s first stop is the capital of Senegal, Dakar, where she will give a speech about the vision for strengthening US-Africa ties in a business forum.

In the excerpts from the speech released by the Treasury Department, Yellen reiterated that Biden’s administration will support the African Union becoming a permanent member of the G20. Senegal currently chairs the African Union, Yellen said the voice of Africa should not be the voice of an invited guest, but that of a full member.

Yellen’s trip to Africa strengthens U.S.-Africa ties while restraining the CCP’s infiltration in the region. Just before the trip, the CCP’s new foreign minister, Qing Gang, had just finished his visit to five African countries, and during the trip, he announced that communist China had signed debt relief agreements or reached a consensus on debt relief with 19 African countries.

Some U.S. officials believe, as President Biden’s administration strengthens the existing U.S.-Africa relationship, it is also proposing more sustainable programs as an alternative to the CCP’s non-market-based loans. Yellen’s trip will mainly focus on establishing the relationship and understanding the investment barriers.
