In an interview published on December 19th, Italy’s Interior Minister said that Italy will stop allowing joint patrols by the Chinese Police with the local Italian Police and that these forms of cooperation will not be implemented or replicated in other forms.
A Spain-based human rights organization said it has evidence of 102 “service stations” of Communist China police, which are sometimes used to pressure Chinese citizens in 53 countries to return to China to face criminal charges and that 11 of these stations were located in Italy. The human rights organization noted that these actions are illegal and likely to target political dissidents.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi told parliament earlier this month that the 2015 joint patrol agreement with Communist China had nothing to do with the establishment of any “service sta-tions” in Italy. The joint patrols took place in 2016-2019 and were “suspended” after the CCP vi-rus outbreak. Several countries, including Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany have now launched investigations into these Chinese “service stations.”
