U.S. Bipartisan Senators Warn The CCP Not To Violently Suppress Chinese Protesters

A bipartisan group of 42 U.S. senators published a letter warning the CCP regime on December 1st that any violent crackdown on the protests in the country would cause “extraordinary damage” to the U.S.-China relationship.

The senators, led by Republican Dan Sullivan and Democrat Jeff Merkley, said in a letter to the CCP’s ambassador in D.C., Qin Gang (秦剛), that they are “closely watching the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) reaction to them.”

“We caution the CCP in the strongest possible terms not to once again undertake a violent crackdown on peaceful Chinese protesters who simply want more freedom. If that happens, we believe there will be grave consequences for the U.S.-China relationship, causing extraordinary damage to it,” the letter stated.

Furthermore, the letter directly mentioned, “In 1989, the Chinese Communist Party and People’s Liberation Army undertook a violent crackdown on peacefully protesting Chinese students, killing hundreds, if not thousands.”

Recently, many protests have erupted in mainland China against the CCP’s draconian “Zero-Covid” protocols under the pretext of COVID control. This is a rare phenomenon since 1989 when the CCP brutally repressed and cracked down on those who participated in the June 4th protests in Tiananmen Square.
