US Bipartisan Lawmakers Sent A Letter To China Ambassador In US On The “Blank Paper Revolution”

Recently, the “Blank Paper Revolution” broke out in many places in Communist China. People in many cities were dissatisfied with the strict long-term lockdown and took to the streets to protest, which aroused concern worldwide. To support these people who have stood up, 42 bipartisan senators and members of Congress recently jointly signed a letter and sent it to China’s Ambassador in Washington Qin Gang, on December 1. They wanted to warn the CCP authorities never to take again to resort to the violent crackdown in Tiananmen Square in 1989; otherwise, there would be “extraordinary damage” to US-China relations. The letter stressed, “We are following the current peaceful protests in China over your government’s policies very carefully. We also closely watch the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) reaction to them.” “In 1989, the Chinese Communist Party and People’s Liberation Army undertook a violent crackdown on peacefully protesting Chinese students, killing hundreds, if not thousands.” “We caution the CCP in the strongest possible terms not to once again undertake a violent crackdown on peaceful Chinese protesters who want more freedom. If that happens, we believe there will be grave consequences for the US-China relationship, causing great damage.”

The letter was led by Republican Senator Todd Young, Dan Sullivan, and Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley, along with Senate Minority Leader of Republican Mitch McConnell, together with Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed, and Jim Inhofe, the chief member of the Military Commission, a total of 42 lawmakers.

It is reported that the White House said on November 28 that it supports the right of the Chinese to peaceful protest but did not make any criticism of the Chinese government.
