US Warships Travel Through Taiwan Strait for the First Time since Pelosi’s Visit

Based on a media report on August 27, three U.S. officials said on the same day that two U.S. Navy warships were sailing international waters in the Taiwan Strait. This is the first such operation since U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan and exacerbated tensions between the U.S. and China.

According to U.S. officials, cruisers Chancellorsville and Antietam were carrying out the operation. Such operations usually take 8 to 12 hours to complete and are closely monitored by the Communist China military. After Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in early August, Governor of Indiana Eric Holcomb, and Blackburn, a member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, led a delegation to visit Taiwan on August 21 and 25 respectively. Although the United States does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan but is bound by law to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself.

The government of the Republic of China stated that the People’s Republic of China has never ruled the island of Taiwan. So, the CCP has no right to claim sovereignty over Taiwan. Only 23 million Taiwanese people can decide their own future.
