Macau Set to Amend National Security Law to Maintain CCP Rule

On August 27th, Macau held its second public consultation session on the revision of National Security Law. This will mainly focus on the economic circles. The public consultation session started from August 22th and expected to end with completed report in late October, then, a draft bill could be finalized and submitted to the Legislative Assembly for deliberation in early November.

The amendment of Macau’s National Security Law is mainly to bring Macau up to the same standard as Hong Kong’s National Security Law in order to better maintain the Chinese Communist Party’s rule in Macau. For example, introducing the conviction of “subversion of state power”; empowering the state law enforcement agencies to extract any communication records, internet traces, and etc. directly from telecommunication and internet providers to further controlling the freedom of speech. It will also give the police more power to hurt and silent anyone at will like the Hong Kong police have been doing.

The hearings on the economic circles will focus on economic security, internet security, and anti-money laundering, enhancing the CCP’s control over Macau’s economic circles. Macau casinos are where the CCP launders money. Hong Kong and Macau are the turf of the CCP’s kleptocrats such as Zeng Qinghong (曾庆红), Wang Qishan (王岐山) and the Jiang family. Hong Kong became a dead port when Xi Jinping implemented the National Security Law in Hong Kong, and Macau’s National Security Law is just a detailed outcome of the CCP’s infighting. The bloody infighting before the 20th National Congress of CCP is becoming more and more intense.
