Zelenskiy Vows: Ukraine Will Recover Crimea

KYIV, Aug 23 (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Zelenskiy vowed that Ukraine will recapture the Crimea annexed by Russia at the right time, and that Ukraine will not negotiate it with other countries.

Previously, leaders of dozens of countries and international organizations attended an online video forum focusing on the Crimean Peninsula hosted by Ukraine. Zelenskiy then made the above statements at a press conference in Kyiv.

“We will take back Crimea- it is our territory. We will do this in any way which we decide. We will decide this by ourselves, without consultation with any other country in the world,” he told reporters.

Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, and then invaded Ukraine in full-scale in February this year, occupied most of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in southern Ukraine.

Ukraine targeted Russian supply lines using weapons supplied by the Western countries, and is planning a massive counteroffensive in South.

In recent weeks, there has been a series of bombings in Crimea, Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for this, but implicitly implied that the Ukrainian army was involved.
