CCP Warns US Congressmen not to Visit Taiwan with ‘War’

Five bipartisan US congressmen visited Taiwan without prior notification on August 14th. A meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen was held on August 15th, followed by dinner with Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and then left Taiwan by arranged plane.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a statement on social media saying: “Full of thanks for the bicameral & bipartisan US congressional delegation led by Senator Markey for their visit. Authoritarian China can’t dictate how democratic Taiwan makes friends, wins support, stays resilient & shines like a beacon of freedom. JW “

Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan on August 2nd was strongly opposed by the Chinese Communist Party. Another military exercise was held on August 15th near Taiwan’s coast and in the airspace surrounding it.

Then, the word “war” was used as a warning. The Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense: “This is a resolute counter-attack against the provocations of the United States and Taiwan, and the PLA will continue its drills to prepare for war and resolutely crush the attempts of ‘Taiwan independence’ and external intervention.”
