As per the reports, Prime Minister Kishida hosted Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives in his official residence on 5th of August. The Prime Minister, in his official statement, informed the reporters that Japan and the United States will continue to work closely and try to uphold peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
The Prime Minister has also confirmed the Chinese ballistic missile incident that happened in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). He said that the incident has significant implications in the matter of peace and stability, not only for the concerned region, but also for the international community, and urged for an immediate de-escalation of the military drills by the Chinese.
Pelosi had a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen on August 3rd in Taipei before visiting Japan. As an act of opposition, China fired ballistic and other missiles during massive military exercises close to Taiwan.
