Japan Denounces Communist China’s Military Exercises Near Taiwan

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida called for China to stop live-fire military exercises near Taiwan during a meeting with U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday. Kishida called the drills a “serious issue” that affects Japan’s national and regional security, UPI reported on August 5.

Beijing reacted angrily to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan this week, and start-off a massive display of force in the waters and airspace around the island of Taiwan on Thursday, with five missiles, landing in Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

Japan has expressed shock at Communist China’s tough stance in the region and signed a joint statement on Wednesday by foreign ministers from the G7 economies, saying Beijing’s “threatened actions” could lead to “unnecessary escalation”.

The Defense Ministry of Taiwan said the Chinese Communist Party continued its aggressive military exercises around Taiwan on Friday, with multiple aircraft and ships crossing the centerline of the Taiwan Strait in a rare incursion.
