TikTok Is CCP Spy Software, Stealing Information Around the World

It’s reported on July 19 that Australian cybersecurity firm Internet2.0 released a technical analysis report, claiming that TikTok is collecting large amounts of data from its users’ mobile phones, including calendars, contact lists, and photos, and sending them back to Communist China.

In an exclusive interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Robert Porter claimed that TikTok is not safe and urged people to use it with caution. This is another recent escalation of security concerns about TikTok in Australia.

TikTok, also known as “DouYin”, the Chinese version in Communist China, is a social media application controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government, just like WeChat. The CCP strictly controls people’s freedom of expression, while it spreads disinformation and monitors users around the world through TikTok and WeChat.

Featuring a short video-sharing platform, TikTok has taken the world by storm in recent years with more than 1 billion active users. The U.S. has become one of its most important markets. But the app has also raised increasing alarm in various countries, after India has taken down several CCP apps across the board, including WeChat and TikTok.

ByteDance, TikTok’s Beijing-based parent company in Communist China, has repeatedly obtained non-public data about U.S. TikTok users. A ByteDance recording document that was made public shows that ByteDance engineers accessed U.S. user data multiple times over a five-month period from at least September 2021 to January 2022.

The spyware of Communist China is characterized by an illegal collection of personal information, automatic downloading of other software, and frequent pop-ups and ads that cannot be closed. The software also transmits a lot of data such as users’ calendars, contact lists, and photos back to Communist China, which brings hidden risks to users’ experience and information security.
