U.S. Ambassador to Japan: Shocked and Sad on Abe’s Assassination

According to reports on July 8th, Rahm Emanuel, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, commented on the attack on former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at noon on the same day, saying ” We are all saddened and shocked by the shooting of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo… the U.S. Government and American people are praying for the well-being of Abe-san, his family, & people of Japan.” he said on Twitter.

Mr. Emanuel wrote that Mr. Abe was an outstanding Japanese leader who had been steadfast on the side of America.
