Canada promises to help Ukraine with food storage

CTV Canada News reported on June 27, at a recent meeting of G7 leaders held in Germany, Canada committed to work with allies to help Ukraine in stocking food to avoid a global food crisis caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Trudeau and other G7 leaders say, Russia not only attacked Ukraine’s food storage infrastructure, but also blocked the country’s main port to prevent its food from exports, thus contributing to the current global food shortage crisis. In response, Canada plans to send about 50 million Canadian dollars’ worth of food storage equipment, including mobile storage tanks, to Ukraine to properly store foods the country produced this year for future use.

Other food storage facilities in Ukraine are also reported to be damaged by Russian forces. Tanks for cooking oil storage in Ukrainian ports, owned by Canada in cooperation with the Netherlands, were attacked by Russian missiles just last week.
