The statement led to growing anxiety among Taiwanese that the Communist regime would invade the self-governing island, driving locals to participate shooting training actively.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss warned Communist China at the G-7 summit in Madrid last week that any attempt to invade Taiwan would be a “catastrophic miscalculation.” She said Beijing risked making the same mistake as Russian President Vladimir Putin, and added: “This is exactly what we saw in the case of Ukraine – a strategic miscalculation by Putin.”
