FCC Again Asks Apple and Google to Block TikTok

It was reported on June 29th that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Wednesday again asked the chief executives of Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores.

FCC Commissioner Brandon Carr tweeted Wednesday afternoon, saying that TikTok is not just another video app, and mentioned the popular social media app’s parent company, Communist China-based ByteDance as involving national security concerns.

Carr had previously issued a warning to Apple and Google’s parent company, Alpha Beta, on June 24th, describing ByteDance as being under the control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and monitoring civilians at the request of the government.

President Trump once pointed out in 2020 that the spread in the United States of mobile applications developed and owned by companies in Communist China continues to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.

President Biden reversed Trump’s ban on TikTok and WeChat after taking office, but only placed them under security oversight, requiring a review of whether they pose a threat to national security.
