According to a report on June 29th, Biden announced the deployment of additional U.S. troops in Italy and Europe.
The United States will strengthen its military presence in Europe, including increased air defense capabilities in Germany and Italy. U.S. President Joe Biden made the announcement at the NATO summit in Madrid. “Today, we are sending a message, NATO is strong and united,” Biden explained. Biden then added that Putin was trying to get the “European Finnish model,” but instead would have a “NATO model.”
In particular, the Pentagon announced that the United States would send a 65-man short-range air defense force to Italy. The U.S. Department of Defense made it clear that the group was a subordinate unit of a short-range air defense battalion stationed in Germany。
