Germany-CCP Confrontation is Democracy-Dictatorship Conflict

German industrial business wants to reduce its reliance on Communist China. Siegfried Rasswalm, President of the Confederation of German Industries (BDI), said in Berlin on June 21 that “Asia is much bigger than China. The most urgent thing to do now is to open other markets,” the President continued, “while Communist China is important to the German economy, there are some things that we think are bad. This includes the lack of openness in some market segments and social systems. We do not want to reduce our business in and out of China, but we plan to position ourselves on a broader scale. Maintaining dialogue is important, and China is Germany’s largest trading partner.”

Rasswalm pointed to the increasing confrontation between political institutions, noting authoritarianism and a liberal democracy. Germany and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are walking among partnership, competition and confrontation. The confrontation has now clearly intensified, partnership and cooperation are now almost impossible to achieve in any field. The attitude of German industry is clear, that since they are firmly in the transatlantic alliance, democratic bodies will have closer economic links and more opportunities, for example in the development of standards in strategic technological areas.

Recently, German exports to Communi’st China have rebounded again after COVID restriction relaxed, but the “Zero-Covid” policy is paralyzing global trade.

Brief comment: The CCP uses trade, diplomacy, and various tactics to deceive. If the CCP says that something is a win-win situation, it is unilaterally win twice for the CCP.
