Japan Increases Military Spending to Tackle the CCP

To counter the threat of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and increase its military strength, Japan is determined to improve its ability to cope with emergencies by doubling the current military expenditure within five years.

Japan’s current military spending accounts for about 1% of its gross domestic product (GDP). The Japanese government has made it clear in its related policies that it will double the current military spending within five years to about 2% of its GDP.In this regard, the Japanese media believe that with the government’s announcement of this policy, the discussion on the issue of military spending in Japan’s domestic public opinion circles will become more active in the future.

The increase in Japan’s military spending this time is not just a political statement but a policy backed by a solid economic budget. In response to this critical policy, the Japanese government has made feasible arrangements for this military expenditure increase in the basic policy of Japan’s fiscal and economic operation and reform this year.

When asked by reporters, the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, said that a corresponding amount had been secured in terms of military spending. In the process of preparing the budget, the Japanese government has also taken necessary measures to ensure this part of the additional cost.

This year, Japan’s military spending is 5.4 trillion-yen, accounting for 0.96% of Japan’s GDP. According to the policy mentioned above, military spending will exceed 10 trillion yen in the next five years.
This increase in military spending is unprecedented for Japan, which means that Japan may play a more critical role on the international stage in the future.
