Biden To Negotiate Tariffs With Xi Jinping

On June 18th, local time, U.S. President Joe Biden said he would speak with Xi Jinping of Communist China soon, and make a final decision on the removal of certain tariffs.

The talk will involve a total of $300 billion in import tariffs of goods that have harmed U.S. manufacturers. The U.S. Treasury secretary revealed last week that the Biden Administration was reconfiguring tariffs as the country is experiencing its worst inflation in nearly 40 years.

The relations between the U.S. and Communist China are in their worst shape since diplomatic ties were established in 1972. The upcoming talk could take place in July in the form of a conference call, people familiar with the matter said. U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and the top CCP diplomat Yang Jiechi met for over four hours on Monday, and the two countries are putting in their best effort to maintain smooth high-level communication.
