Sullivan says U.S. Policy Toward Taiwan Never Changes

Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Adviser, reiterated on June 16th that the U.S. position on Taiwan has not changed, which includes the One China principle, the Three Joint Communiqués, the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances, the Voice of America (VOA) reported on June 17th. The United States opposes any actions by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) endangering the situation in the Taiwan Strait.

Sullivan just met with Yang Jiechi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and the top official in charge of foreign affairs. He expressed U.S. concerns about Beijing’s coercive behavior toward Taiwan, the need to ensure that stability is maintained in the Taiwan Strait, and no unilateral changes to the present situation will be made by the parties.

President Xi Jinping of the CCP just spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The CCP has been claiming neutrality on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and refusing to condemn or sanction Russia’s aggression.

The CCP has long been standing behind Russia’s aggression, and has been stepping up pre-war preparations domestically. The crisis in Ukraine has led to increased U.S. and global concern that a hot war could break out at any moment in the Taiwan Strait.

The two evil axis powers, Communist China and Russia, have joined forces to destabilize the world, and the U.S. has reaffirmed and made clear that its policy of maintaining stability in the Taiwan Strait does not change.
