The U.S. Reopens Its Embassy In Ukraine’s Capital Kyiv

On May 18, the U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken announced the U.S. reopens its embassy in Kyiv, three months after its closure since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A team of US diplomats will return to Kyiv and operate the embassy with limited capacity. Blinken said security measures will be strengthened to ensure the safety of returning US diplomats.

On the same day, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee unanimously approved President Joe Biden’s nominee, Veteran diplomat Bridget Brink, to become the next US ambassador to Ukraine.
