The U.S. Department of State updated its website on the status of U.S.-Taiwan relations on May 5th, removing the phrase “Taiwan is part of China and not supporting Taiwan’s independence”, causing great concern. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) dispatched one WZ-10 and two Card – 28 helicopters to intrude into the Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on 10th, with the WZ-10 helicopter crossing the central line of the Taiwan Strait.
Avril Haines, the Director of the U.S. National Intelligence, suggested on 11th that Taiwan should learn from the experience of the Russia-Ukraine war on how to resist the invasion by the CCP. Scott Berrier, the Director of the U.S. The Defense Intelligence Agency has also recently called for the U.S. to reach out to Taiwan’s military and political leadership to help Taiwan gain the experience of the Russia-Ukraine war in order to face the CCP’s invasion.
