U.S. House Passes The Axis Act Named After Xi Jinping

According to the relevant media on April 27, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Assessing Xi’s Interference and Subversion Act on Assessing How Xi Jinping Intervened and Obstructed U.S. Sanctions against Russia, referred to as the Axis Act, by 394 votes in favor and 3 against.

It is reported that the bill was proposed by Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, which requires the U.S. State Department to submit an assessment report on whether the CCP has helped Russia evade international sanctions within 30 days of the publication of the bill, and it needs to be updated every 90 days thereafter. The bill points out that Russia and the CCP have repeatedly emphasized the bilateral relations of sustainable strategic cooperation between the two countries. To this end, the report of the State Council needs to supplement whether the CCP has provided any form of assistance for Russia to escape international sanctions.

Congressman Barr, the drafter of the bill, said that the United States needs a complete report on Russian-Chinese cooperation. At the same time, legislators and the American people should begin to deal with this geopolitical challenge. In addition, McCall, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, directly called out the CCP, saying that the behavior of the CCP showed that it had no intention or was unable to act as a constructive partner in the Russian-Ukrainian war; on the contrary, the CCP had become an ally of Russia. The report mentioned that the bill will then be sent to the Senate for review.
