International community condemns CCP’s Epidemic Prevention Policy of Separating Children from Their Parents

On April 5, according to media reports, Shanghai government health officials recently said that all local children who test positive for the CCP virus must be isolated from their parents as part of the curb of the virus. The report mentions that the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission requires that infected children younger than seven years old need to be quarantined at the city’s public health Clinical Center, while other older children would be sent to a central quarantine center after being diagnosed.

However, there are videos showing that some of the local children in quarantine continued to cry without the attendance of adults. Other sources pointed out that some infants are at risk of suffocation or other hazards at any time if left unattended. According to sources, the parents and guardians of the children talked to Chinese social media to express their anger over the policy.

Diplomats from more than 30 countries wrote to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, expressing their concerns; Twenty-three European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Norway, and other Western countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, suggested in the letter that close contacts of the CCP virus should self-isolate at home rather than be forcibly sent to isolation camps, and urge CCP not to separate children from parents via CCP virus.

Currently, about 25 million people are trapped in Shanghai, the largest financial center of the Chinese Communist Party.
