Taiwan Will Not Race With Communist China For Meaningless Money Diplomacy

On Sunday (March 26th), Communist China established diplomatic ties with Honduras. On the same day, Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu declared to cut diplomatic ties with Honduras. On the day before, Foreign Ministry of Honduras declared to cut diplomatic ties with Taiwan through Twitter. Speaker of Communist China’s Foreign Ministry said the CCP highly praises Honduras’ move of admitting and abiding by the “one-China” principle, deciding to cut ties with Taiwan, and forming ties with CCP.

Speaker of the US Department of State said on Saturday that the CCP always makes promises that cannot be kept for its diplomatic recognition. The speaker called on countries to further their engagement with Taiwan, and continue to stand on the side of democracy and rule of law.

In a video speech on Sunday, Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen emphasized that Taiwan will not race with Communist China for meaningless “money diplomacy”. Communist China’s suppress cannot undermine Taiwan’s determination to go global.
