Japan Defence Prepares Own Blood Bank In Preparation For Taiwan Crisis

Japan has significantly revised its security laws and has also conducted military simulations around Taiwan on multiple occasions. The results show that even when Communist China is defeated, the United States and Japanese coalition forces will nonetheless suffer considerable losses. Therefore, Japan’s Ministry of Defense announced that it will begin producing and stockpiling blood for soldiers starting in the 2023 fiscal year to prepare for a “Taiwan crisis.” Currently, blood products for the Self-Defense Forces’ are procured from the Japanese Red Cross, but from the 2023 fiscal year, they will change to become self-sufficient. Meanwhile, military forces from countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom also have their own blood production and storage equipment.

Japan’s move is to avoid shortages in blood products if the Self-Defense Forces in the southwestern islands become involved in a conflict in the Taiwan Strait. Additionally, they will continue to procure blood from the Japanese Red Cross to prepare for emergencies.
