Russian Mercenaries Refuse To Attack Due To Ammunition Shortage

Russia is desperately trying to besiege the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, the foreign media reported on March 6th. The head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary unit has warned that the Russian war effort over there is in danger unless his troops are supplied with ammunition in time. Relations between the Kremlin and the head of the private militia are tense. With mercenaries complaining of ammunition shortage, Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin said Russia’s front line near Bakhmut could collapse if his troops don’t get the ammunition that Moscow promised in February.

The mercenary leader is a frequent critic of Russia’s defense minister and top generals. He accuses Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and others of “treason” for withholding arms supplies to his men.
