On March 3, the United States announced a new batch of military assistance to Ukraine.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the military aid package totaled about $400 million. He said, “This military assistance package includes more ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS and howitzers, which Ukraine is using so effectively to defend itself, as well as ammunition for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges, demolitions munitions and equipment, and other maintenance, training, and support,”
It is reported that in this package of aid equipment, the Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges (AVLB) is a movable and collapsible 60-foot folding metal bridge carried by a tank body. Currently providing such a system to Ukraine will help the Ukrainian army’s expected spring offensive, making it easier for the Ukrainian army to cross the river and fight the Russian army. Including this latest batch of aid, the United States has now provided over $32 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
