Wang Yi’s Moscow Visit Seeks To Strengthen Xi-Putin Ties

On Tuesday, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary-general of the Russian Federation Security Council, told visiting Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi in Moscow, that Communist China is a priority in Russia’s foreign policy. The two countries must stand united against the West. Moscow supports Beijing’s position on the issues of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang. Wang Yi announced at the Munich Security Conference on February 17th, that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will announce its stance on the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis. On February 24th, the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Chairman of the CCP Xi Jinping will deliver a so-called “peace speech”. Wang Yi has been a high-profile boaster in the international community and tout that the CCP has always maintained world peace and stability. However, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Chinese government has never publicly condemned this aggression.

The chairman of the Standing Committee of the CCP’s Congress, Li Zhanshu, even promised that Beijing would give the Moscow invader “full support” during his visit to Russia last year. This visit of Wang Yi is tightly binding the Putin dictatorship and Xi’s regime together.

It was reported that Wang Yi will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday, and it does not rule out the possibility of a meeting with Putin.
