Following the ‘Fireworks Movement’, CCP Loosens ‘Fire Ban’ To Appease Public Outrage

On New Year’s Day in 2023, people from Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hainan, Ningxia, Guangxi, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and other provinces and cities boycott the CCP government’s “fire ban” and set off fireworks during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, causing conflicts between the police and the people. Following people’s “Firework Movement”, the CCP is loosening up the previous “fire ban” in many places.

On December 30th, 2022, Dalian City, Liaoning Province issued the “Notice on the Control of Fireworks in 2023”. The notice shows that in certain controlled areas, the time for setting off fireworks on New Year’s Eve is limited but not completely banned.

In Shandong Province, Dongying and Binzhou, the governmental policies for fireworks only restricted the fireworks to be set off in some areas and time periods during the New Year.

On January 2nd, 2023, the Security Office of Xi’an Public Security Bureau issued an urgent notice on the prohibition of selling fireworks, setting off, and transporting fireworks. The notice requires the police not to have a direct conflict with the masses and not to cause negative public opinion involving the police.
