Japanese Prime Minister Criticizes Russia And Communist China At ASEAN Summit

Media reported on Nov. 11 that during the 10th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Cambodia, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio denounced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine while expressing concerns for the political stability of the Asian region.

Kishida criticized Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as its threat of using nuclear weapons. He said the international community should send a clear message to Russia that any change to the status quo using force is unacceptable.

Kishida added that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is crucial. President Biden and ASEAN leaders also announced on the same day a new strategic partnership aimed at countering the growing influence of Communist China in the region.
