Zelenskyy Agrees To Peace Talk With Russia On Conditions

After Russia annexed four Ukrainian regions illegitimately in late September, Zelenskyy signed a decree stating that a negotiation is impossible as long as Putin remains in power. Recently, Ukrainian President said he agreed to hold peace talks with Kremlin on the condition that the core interests of Ukraine are protected. Zelenskyy emphasized that Moscow should return all of Ukraine’s occupied territories, compensate for war damage and injuries, as well as prosecute the war crime committed. He also called on the international community to exert pressure on Russia, pushing Moscow into real peace negotiation. On Nov 7th, the UN General Assembly voted for a resolution calling for Kremlin to be held accountable for violating international law and waging aggressive war against Ukraine and compensate for the loss of Kyiv. Miles Guo said in a live broadcast on Nov 9th that Putin’s heath condition was indeed deteriorating and he knew his days are numbered. The Russian leader is fully aware that it would be very hard for Kyiv to obtain considerable military and financial assistance from the U.S. after the midterm elections, while the turbulent Europe would also reduce their support for Ukraine. In order to balance the political interests of both sides, Moscow and Kyiv agreed to a peace talk with the aim of putting an end to the war.
