Reuters reported from Moscow on October 27 that Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that relations between Russia and Communist China have reached “an unparalleled level.” Chairman Xi Jinping of Communist China was described as Putin’s “close pal.”
In February, Beijing and Moscow signed an unfettered partnership agreement only a few days before Russia began its “special military operation” in Ukraine. Russia has made an effort to develop closer political and economic ties with Communist China in response to Western sanctions.
On the same day, Putin added that it was incorrect for the US to harm relations with Communist China over the Taiwan issue. Putin stated that Russia acknowledges Taiwan as a component of the People’s Republic of China and that the travel of U.S. leaders to Taiwan, including U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is a provocation to Communist China.
