Iran Engulfed in Protests Despite Violent Suppression by the Authorities

According to a report from October 10th, at least 185 people, including at least 19 children, were killed in a crackdown by the government amid widespread rallies in Iran, the Iran Human Rights ( IHRNGO ) based in Norway, stated on Saturday. Half of all known killings occurred in the Sistan and Baluchestan Pro, where there were the most.

Despite the government crackdown, Iranians around the country continue to demonstrate.

Since the funeral of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on September 17th in the city of Saqez in Kurdistan province, protests against religious persecution have emerged as Iran’s largest challenge, with demonstrators clamoring for the ouster of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The public demonstrations have been characterized by the Iranian regime as a plot by Western civilized countries to overthrow Iran’s theocratic government.

IHRNGO claim that videos posted on social media show Iranian security forces dispersing demonstrators in dozens of Iranian cities early on Sunday by using tear gas, sticks, and, in many cases, live bullets. However, hundreds of high school girls and college students from all over the country bravely took part in the demonstrations despite a savage oppression by the Iranian government.
