NATO Official Stated That The Russia, China ‘Deepen’ Relations With Shared Anti-U.S. Goal

On October 4, a senior NATO official was quoted as saying that despite Moscow’s disastrous invasion of Ukraine, Russia and the Chinese Communist Party are intensifying their practical cooperation with the shared goal of ejecting the United States from Europe and Asia. James Appathurai, the NATO deputy assistant secretary general for emerging security challenges, stated in an interview that members of the alliance “shouldn’t be naive” about the expanding Moscow-Beijing partnership. China has been sticking politically with Russia throughout this process, amplifying their messaging, their disinformation.

The Chinese Communist Party has given President Vladimir Putin significant diplomatic and economic support by refusing to condem Russia’s latest invasion of Ukraine, allowing institutions and companies to deepen relations and trade with Moscow, particularly in the area of energy purchases as the West looks to wean itself off Moscow’s fossil fuel exports.

Beijing has made its intentions clear in response to Russia’s illegal attempts to annex four occupied Ukrainian regions last week, which prompted Appathurai to respond. He stated: “China has been relentlessly backing Russia in the UN system, including abstaining on votes on condemning the annexation of these four regions. they are continuing to deepen their relations with very practical agreements which enhance their cooperation. So my own feeling is they have long-term, common strategic interests, which are, in essence, about getting the U.S. out of Europe and getting the U.S. out of Asia.”
