U.S. Lend-Lease Act For Ukraine Takes Effect

On 1 October local time, Ukrainian officials announced on their social media accounts that the U.S. Lend-Lease Act for Ukraine has came into effect. This means that Ukraine will receive more weapons of better quality.

On April 7 of this year, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill allowing President Biden to use the Lend-Lease program to facilitate sending military aid to Ukraine and Eastern Europe. On May 9, President Biden signed the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022 into law, which greatly simplified the administrative process for the U.S. to provide military aid, as well as other necessary resources, to Ukraine.

The ”Lend-Lease Act of 1941” was passed by the U.S. Congress during World War II to provide military aid to the enemy of Nazi German while keeping the U.S. out of the war. After the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. revived this act.
