CCP Revives the Cultural Revolution Line to Accelerate the Left Turn

The Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s Central Committee held a meeting recently. The meeting is usually held in the middle and end of each month, but this time, it was held earlier, which may be related to Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit, outsiders noticed. Meanwhile, the meeting released several signals related to the CCP’s Party Congress.

According to CCP media reports, the Sept. 9th meeting of the CCP Political Bureau, chaired by Xi Jinping, examined the draft report of the CCP Party Congress and amendments to the Party Constitution to be submitted for discussion at the 7th Plenary Session of the 19th CCP Central Committee.

In 2017, the CCP has officially written “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” into the Party Constitution. Some analysts say that the revision of the Party Constitution this time may further enhance the “Xi Jinping Thought”.
This raises “Xi Thought” to a higher status. Previously, the CCP only had Mao Zedong Thought, but now Xi Jinping has reached a level comparable to Mao Zedong.

This indicates that Xi’s power will expand after the 20th National Congress.

According to Reuters, the amendment to the Party Constitution is likely to incorporate the CCP’s latest proposal of “two establishments” into it, further establishing Xi Jinping’s central position.
