Biden Calls For An Additional $13.7 Billion In Aid To Ukraine

According to American media reports on Sep. 2nd, with Washington’s assistance funds to Kyiv running out, president Joe Biden requested Congress to approve $13.7 billion more in emergency aid funding to Ukraine.

An American government official said the White House made an additional request for $13.7 billion as the lawmakers were preparing to return from the legislative recess. It was a part of an overall $47.1 billion emergency spending package aiming at American assistance to war-torn Ukraine, the response to CCP virus (COVID) and monkeypox, as well as relief for recent natural disasters in several states.

It is reported that the Biden administration has disbursed roughly three-fourths of the $40 billion approved by Congress this May and needed additional funding in providing support to Ukraine. It is learnt that the new request would be used to fund equipment, intelligence support, and direct budgetary support for Kyiv. Biden has spent $13.5 billion in aid to Ukraine since he took office.
