CCP’s Military Escalations in Taiwan may be to Distract Internal Problems

Is the threat to take Taiwan by force a way to distract from the problems at home? Due to recent events, the Chinese Government faces many internal problems. First, the Zero Covid policy failed, and the people are very angry with the government for its harsh rules. Secondly, the Chinese economy is in crisis. It is reported that the China’s economy is in a ‘desperate situation,’ and China’s Central bank has admitted the problem recently. The boycott of mortgages by thousands of home buyers adds more fuel on the fire. Since 2020, thousands of real estate projects have been halted due to the crisis, and builders, including Evergrande, the biggest real estate company, could not hand over the apartments to their buyers.  

 The third problem is the drought. According to Reuters, heatwaves have disrupted crop growth for over two months, threatened livestock, and forced industries to shut down due to power cuts. More than a million people are suffering due to this crisis.  

 All these internal issues are threatening Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) grip on power. The Chinese citizens are angry with government policies and the state of the economy. To smokescreen the problems, the CCP is diverting the media and the people of China to Taiwan by escalating tensions in the name of safeguarding national sovereignty.
