Pompeo: Taiwan is a de facto Independent Country

On August 12th, former US Secretary of State Pompeo posted on his Facebook that Taiwan is a free and independent country, and it is not affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Pompeo added his own explanation that he was banned from entering Communist China because he dared to hold the CCP accountable for what it did. But he was able to walk freely on the soil of Taiwan, and was warmly welcomed by the Taiwanese people and the government at the same time.

Pompeo used his own experience to prove that Communist China and Taiwan are two different countries. Taiwan has its basic elements as a country, such as territory, sovereignty, people, and government, and is completely out of Beijing’s control. The CCP’s sanctions against Pompeo just provide the best evidence that Taiwan is independent from mainland China, which has existed since 1949 and only the political realities and interests of the international community have changed.

In recent years, leaders of major countries have become aware of the CCP’s violation of their own countries and their own interests, and have begun to change their attitudes toward the autocracy. This is an important moment for politicians in the international community to re-examine their national and private interests. Pompeo is one of the few pioneers who dare to speak out, and will inevitably lead to a subsequent wave of international outrage against the CCP.
