The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Virus Quarantine Causes a Decline in Fertility Intentions

After the humanitarian disaster that communist China experienced in April with the quarantine of the CCP in Shanghai, more and more couples of reproductive age have given up on having children. The Shanghai government threatened to punish three generations of people who violated the quarantine policy during the mandatory quarantine period, and they replied “this is our last generation.” This sentence quickly became popular on the Internet but was soon subjected to censorship from the CCP’s government. People do not want their children to be born in a country where there is a great deal of uncertainty and where the government can do whatever it wants. For example, loss of income and food, government break-ins, and separation of parents and children. The pandemic prevention policy of Communist China has eliminated all the desire to have the next generation.

Communist China’s fertility rate has declined severely reaching the lowest in history. Births in 2021 are down 11.5% from 2020, with just less than 10 million births. Henan province with a large population also fell by 9.5% in the first 6 months of this year. Last year the CCP took measures to encourage births, such as tax cuts, extended maternity leave, increased health insurance, housing subsidies, etc. But after the CCP virus quarantine, couples of childbearing age have postponed their birth plans indefinitely. Demographers, after compiling the data on Communist China’s engine keywords such as infant tuberculosis vaccines, marriage registration, and certain mother and baby products, predicted that the newborn birth rate of Communist China in 2022 and 2023 is lower.
