Beijing Responds to Pelosi’s Visit to Taiwan

After the official visit from the United States to Taiwan with House Speaker Pelosi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued a statement condemning Madam Speaker’s actions.

‘On August 2nd, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representative, Nancy Pelosi, disregarded China’s strong opposition and solemn representations, and visited Taiwan, China. China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity have seriously undermined the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait and sent a serious wrong signal to the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces. The Chinese side firmly opposes and strongly condemns this, and has slowed solemn representations and strong protests with the US side.’

According to news, China has said on Wednesday that it is conducting military drills in response to Pelosi’s visit. A map was released by China news agencies indicating drills would take place in six different areas in the waters surrounding the self-governing island.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said the drills will include long-range ammunition testing in the Taiwan Strait.

The visit to Taiwan from the United States Speaker served a serious blow to the facade of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as their appearance of strength and world leadership diminished after months of ominous threats were stated to deter any U.S. senior officials from entering Taiwan. The paper tiger has become very apparent in world views, and resulting in the loss of respect among many countries and their relationship with the communist China.
