U.S. Anti-Communist Think Tank Awards First Lady of Ukraine Dissident Human Rights Award

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, on behalf of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression, Ms. Olena Zelenska received the Human Rights Prize from a prominent American think tank. Russia is a descendant of the Communist Soviet Union, formerly known as the “Evil Empire,” and even after the end of the Cold War, Russia maintained an authoritarian political system like Communism. 

 On July 19th, during the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine Zelenska to Washington, D.C., the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation’s Award Ceremony held an award ceremony for her and First Lady Zelenska received the Dissident Human Rights Award. Edwin John Feulner, Chairman of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Asian Studies presented Ms. Zelenska with her award. 

 Dr. Edwin John Feulner, 81, is also the founder of the Heritage Foundation and considered one of America’s best Asian experts. He has a unique insight into the Korean Peninsula issue and has strong connections in South Korea, including Lee Jae-Yong, vice president of Samsung Electronics. President Yun Seok-Yeol met twice in April during his election and in June after taking office to make recommendations on the new government’s foreign security policy. 

 The winners of the Dissident Human Rights Award are all Ukrainian nationals. Taking Ms. Zelenska’s visit to the United States as an opportunity, she received the award on behalf of the Ukrainian nationals.
